James "Toad" Buchanan

James “Toad” Buchanan, 56, of Gilman passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his home and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.   A Celebration of Life for James held by the family will be on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Community Center, 2887 290th St, Ferguson, IA 50078. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for James and his family.   James Buchanan was born on June 25, 1963 in Marshalltown to Ernest Eugene and Mary Jane Buchanan. He attended LDF High School. On October 5, 1990, James was united in marriage to Tina Carr in Custer, South Dakota. He had currently been employed with Midwest Manufacturing as a forklift driver. James was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. James was a family man. He enjoyed going to the casino with his family, vacationing in the Black Hills of South Dakota with friends and family, watching western movies with his mom, logging with his father in South Dakota, attending dirt track races and being a part of the pit crew with his brother in law, going to his children’s activities, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. James is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Tina. Children: Jesse James (Alexandra) Buchanan, Michael Eugene Buchanan and Alexis Marie Buchanan. Siblings: Steve Buchanan, Dennis (Karen) Buchanan, Marcia (Jeff) Stowe and Jean (Loren) Sieck. James is also survived by his fur babies Kirra Jo, Buddy Crown, Bandit and Marshmallow as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.   James is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Buchanan, niece Kimberley; great nephew Koale as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles other family.
