James Paul Veld was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on December 27, 1954. He was one of two children born to Paul and Jean (Mills) Veld. Jamie and his sister were raised by their father from a young age and he attended school within Marshalltown.
Jamie had never married but kept his life full of those who he loved and those who loved him back. He was a hard worker and began from a young age working for Western Manufacturing in Marshalltown where he worked in the sheet metal fabrications unit. He worked for the company for 30 years before they had shut their doors. He picked up working for Kellor Steel (Ryerson Steel) as a crane operator. While at Kellor, he developed a device to hold up the large coils of metal that they would later continue to use. He worked for them until the time of his retirement.
Jamie loved to stay occupied with a kaleidoscope of activities. He was a collector and collected many things and memorabilia but more specifically loved things with an American Eagle on it. He enjoyed playing games whether that was a board game, card game, or some sort of dice. He had a joy for the outdoors and went camping and fishing. He loved to ride on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He even had a creative side where he did projects within leatherworking, drawing, and glass etching. He had the soft spot in his heart for his German Shepherd dogs and loved the occasional trip to the buffets. He spent plenty of time with family and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his sister Debbie (Greg) Purvis; his nephews, Ryan and Mitchell Storjohann; great-nieces and nephews, Taylor, Kylee, Kaylee Rose, Jacob Paul, Mikhail, Raegan, Isabella, Ryleigh, and Alyson; and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Jean; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and uncles and aunts.
