James Vry

James “Big Jim” Vry, 60, lifelong resident of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 25, 2021 at UnityPoint Health - Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  A private family burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. He attended Marshalltown High School, graduating with the class of 1978. Jim was employed at Interface Sealing Solutions (Cooper’s) and a member of the local UAW. Jim loved his faithful furry companions and socializing with friends. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Zelda Vry (Elwood Packer); his father, Ralph Vry; siblings: Brad (Dana) Vry, Lori Nolta and Teri (Kevin) German; nieces and nephews: Courtney, Cole, Rylee, Chris, Curtis, Jordan and Zach and 4 great-nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his 4 dogs.
