James Wirick

James Jim Wirick, 72, passed away peacefully, and is not suffering from cancer anymore, at the Iowa Veterans Home on February 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Angela Doty officiating. A public visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. For condolences please visit www.Mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. James Franklin Wirick was born on September 24, 1944 in Sunbury, Ohio to the parents of George and Mary (Stockwell). Jim earned his high school diploma from the Delaware Ohio School Systems and soon after he honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Airforce from 1962 until 1966. In 1967 Jim was united in marriage to the late Shirley Blue in Peoria, Ohio. On June 12, 1978 Jim was united in marriage to Carol Harding in Delaware, Ohio. He always loved his hometown, Delaware, Ohio but also enjoyed living in Iowa for the last 30 years. Jim had held a membership at New Beginnings formerly Grace United Methodist Church in Delaware, Ohio. Jim was a huge Ohio State fan, always cheering for the team any chance he got. He was an avid football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling fan. In Jims younger years, he was a member of the local bowling league. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and singing while his brother, Al would play the guitar. He really enjoyed gospel and country music. Later in life, Jim worked at the Iowa Veterans Home at the Heinz Hall building and loved every day. Left to cherish Jims memory are his children James Russ (Tera) Wirick of London, OH and Tina (Nathan) Malvig of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren Mary Wirick of Eureka, CA Clay Wirick of Columbus, OH, Colt Wirick of Columbus, OH, Liliana Wirick of London, OH, Greta Malvig of Woodbury, MN, and Everett Malvig of Woodbury MN, and siblings Frances Curtis of Delaware, OH, and Donna Loudermilk (Gary) of Delaware, Ohio, special nephew Marc Wirick of Delaware, OH, and best friend Jim Balch of Delaware, OH. Jim is preceded in death by his spouses Shirley, and Carol, his parents George and Mary, siblings Mary (George) Cline, Raymond Wirick, Glenn Wirick, Al (Janet) Wirick, and brother-in-law George Curtis.
