Jamesina Peter, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2023 at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown surrounded by her loving family.
Service for Jamesina will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Jamesina was born July 18, 1936 in Dalmeny, Scotland to James and Martha (Hopewell) Donaldson. In 1957, she immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
On January 29, 1960, she was united in marriage to Patrick Peter at the St. Mary Cathedral in Winnipeg. Jamesina began a family in 1960 having two children in Canada. With Pat’s Job at Swift and Co it moved them many places including Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Toronto, Ontario, South St. Paul, and eventually Marshalltown, Iowa in 1969 where they made their forever home. Jamesina worked for the Marshalltown Community School District in the cafeterias for more than 25 years before her retirement. She was active within Marshalltown serving on the Marshalltown Wrestling Club Board and the Marshalltown Little League. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon.
In her free time, Jamesina loved to read, work on sewing projects, make cookies, spend time with her family, watch hallmark movies, and court tv. She was cheering on Iowa State Athletics teams and the Minnesota Vikings.
She is survived by her children, John (Julie) Peter and Bonnie (Roy) Auldridge; her grandchildren, Alex (Carol) Peter, Shelby Peter, and Mackenzie Peter; her great-grandchildren Whitley Huxford and London Peter; and one brother Alex (Betty) Donaldson; alongside many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat (2008); her son, Mike Peter (2011); her parents; and her grandparents.
