Jane Hays

Jane Hays, 72, of Albion, Iowa, passed away on June 12, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer stopping only when the doctors told her to “STOP” and at home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice and surrounded by her loving family.A memorial gathering will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jane and her family. Jane Phyllis Hauser was born on May 10, 1946 in Eldora, Iowa; she was the daughter of Ronald W. and Lula F. (Berry) Hauser. Jane attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1964. On November 25, 1966, at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, Jane was united in marriage to Donald W. Hays. Jane worked at the Marshall County Auditor’s Office as a Deputy Auditor for 30 years and also the Maid-Rite. Jane retired early and lived life to the fullest every day. She was famous for her cooking and could make an incredible meal out of nothing. Jane love to fish with her husband on the Rainy River in Baudette, Minnesota and her fish stories were always true and she loved to fish for the walleye and spend time with her precious grandkids, and always loved caring for her family. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Donald; her children, Angela (Michael) Duffy and Cory (Katherine) Hays, all of Marshalltown, Iowa; three granddaughters, Caitlin (Jeremy) Nemechek, Kelci Beaty and Kristin Hays; and three great-grandchildren, Devin, Carver and Brooklyn Nemechek and brother, Richard Hauser of Liscomb, Iowa. In death Jane rejoins her parents, Lula and Ronald Hauser.
