Jane McKibben

Jane McKibben, age 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away in the peace and comfort of her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with her nephew, Nathan Jordebrek officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Jane was one of seven children born to parents Clifford and Joan (Wilcox) McKibben. Born in Marshalltown and graduating from the Marshalltown High School’s Class of 1974, she excelled in band and made her long legacy on the marching band as the creator of the MHS Bobcat tuba covers and the banner that lead countless parades and games. After graduating from MHS, she attended Kirkwood College receiving a degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Jane retired from the Respiratory Therapy department of St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after 30 years of dedicated and compassionate service to many individuals. She made Cedar Rapids her home until the time of her passing.

Sewing (many figure skating outfits for the Eastern Iowa Figure Skating Club, in Cedar Rapids), baking, collecting solar dancers (like her mom) and collecting Longaberger baskets were some favorite parts of life and the time spent with her family was precious. Her banking skills learned from her mom was saving quarters in medicine bottles.

Jane was loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings: Janet (Ed) Jordebrek of Clemons, Jill (Christopher) Hickson of Kenosha, WI, Joel (Anne) McKibben of West Des Moines, Jon McKibben of Urbandale and James (Brandy) McKibben of Marshalltown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and all of their families.

In death, Jane rejoined her parents, her paternal and maternal grandparents, her sister Suzanne Boldt, niece Amy and nephew Mark.
