Janean Klosterman

Janean Rae Klosterman, age 73, of St. Anthony, Iowa passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2026 at Iowa River Hospice House.

Jean was born to James and Muriel Wood on February 11th, 1953 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School with the Class of 1971. Jean married the love of her life Ron Klosterman on June 16th, 1972 in her parents’ house. Ron and Jean were married for 54 years, an increasingly rare accomplishment.

Her vocational history showcases her versatility. Jean worked at Clifton Supermarket, she owned Allied Printing for 16 years, worked for Tally-ho Travel Agency, and worked for Farm Bureau. But her passions were two-fold, she loved to garden, and she loved Marshalltown. Her gardening accomplishments could be seen all through the town. Jean judged many flower competitions. She was a former president of both the Garden Club and Marshall/Tama County Pheasants Forever. But she also enjoyed relaxing by going to their Cabin at Big Wall Lake.

Jean was a special lady, beloved and respected. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her and her absence will be noted by those who will miss her green thumb around the town, even if they didn’t know her name.

Jean is survived by her husband Ron Klosterman of St. Anthony, and her dog Neka.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Per Jean’s wishes, cremation rites will take place and there will be no formal services held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the Animal Rescue League or to Iowa River Hospice.
