Janet Alberts

Janet Alberts, 92, of Marshalltown, was called to her heavenly home on the night of Thursday, September 3rd, while residing at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8th, at the 1st Baptist Church with Pastor Dick Sipe officiating. Born Janet Howard on November 28th, 1922, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Walter and Iona (Harrison) Howard. She graduated from the Lamoille High Schools Class of 1940 (the only girl in a class of 8!). Janet was a devoted mother who treasured her family and worked hard for their benefit. She loved to help others and gave words and acts of encouragement. Music and the outdoors were very precious to her as well as music and her church life. Being a talented singer, she was once a vocalist with the Billy Graham Choir. Most important in her life was her personal relationship with Christ and today she shares that reward. Janet was employed for many years at Marshalltown Instruments and was an active, devoted member of the 1st Baptist Church in Marshalltown. She did custom sewing for people and some housekeeping as well. Left to cherish her memory are her three children- Sharon (Brian) Pfantz of State Center, Muffy (Dewey) Ford of Marshalltown and Ed (Darla) Burns of Marshalltown, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many friends and other family members. In death, Janet rejoined her parents, her sister Hazel Huston Hickman and brother James Howard.
