Janet Briggs

Janet Briggs, 69, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, after a long illness at a Melbourne, Florida hospice. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Janet Kay Briggs was born in Colfax, Iowa on June 12, 1944; she was the daughter of James Gaylen and Elsie (Kiesewetter) Briggs. She attended school in Van Cleve and the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1962. Janet designed the MHS Bobcat, which is still in use today. She continued to use her artistic talents in designing Afghans and home decorating. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends and dishing out special hugs. Left to cherish her memory are her children Sheri Elledge of Fairhope, AL and Lisa (David) Casey of Daphne, AL grandchildren, Jordan Casey and Katelyn Casey of Daphne, AL and Kayleigh Molzahn of Monroe, NY and her siblings, Gayle (Mike ) Martyn of Troy, MI and Debra (David) Patterson of Asheville, NC. In death Janet rejoins her parents, J.G. and Elsie Briggs, daughter, Kelly Ann Elledge, brothers, Robert Briggs and John Briggs.
