Janet “Jan” Doser

Janet “Jan” Doser, 70, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Saint Anthony, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Services for Jan will take place on Friday, July 12 at 10:30 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Clemons Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Born Janet Marie Hunter on January 9, 1954 in Inglewood, California, she was the daughter of Thomas and Henrietta (Vahrenwald) Hunter. By the time she was two years old, they relocated to Marshalltown, Iowa, where Jan either resided or worked the remainder of her life.

She was united in marriage on June 11, 1980 to Kenneth “Kenny” Harold Doser. Together they raised their children on a farm in Saint Anthony, where this “city girl” fully embraced her life as a farm wife. She loved making meals from scratch, tending to her vegetable garden and canning, to name a few. In addition to her hard work at home and raising her family, she dedicated over 40 years to emergency services at the Marshalltown hospital (MASC).

In her free time, she loved video games, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, reading fiction and making blankets. More than anything, even Pepsi, she loved her family with her whole heart and truly enjoyed spending time with them. Her warmth and love extended beyond her own children to include nieces, nephews and really to all those who interacted with her at the hospital over the years.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Michael Hunter of Bondurant, Casey Doser of Des Moines, Megan (Aaron) Daniel of Des Moines and Matthew Doser of Collins; grandchildren: Brandon (Sophie) Daniel, Veronica (Ryan) Harding and their children Braylie, Anthony and Greyson, Ariel (Tony) Daniel and their daughter Adaline, Blaine Daniel, Bennett York and Emma Doser; her siblings: Kenneth (Carol) Hunter, Carole McKinney and Steven (Diane) Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jan is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenny, her parents Thomas and Henrietta Hunter, brothers-in-law Rodger McKinney and “Saint” James Doser and several aunts and uncles.
