Janice Collins

Janice Louise Collins, 77, of Green Mountain, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 20, 2017, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Marshalltown. Throughout the last few months, Janice was surrounded by family and friends telling stories, singing, and laughing. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Gladbrook Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Janice Louise Benbow was born on January 31st, 1940 to Robert and Ruth (Maxfield) Benbow, in Marshalltown. She grew up in the town of Green Mountain and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1958. On April 12th, 1959, she married Larry Collins, at the Green Mountain United Church of Christ. They farmed, raised a happy family and resided in the Green Mountain community all of their 58 years of marriage. Janice was a member of the Gladbrook Chapel United Methodist Church and was involved in many church activies. She loved her family, her church community, flowers, growing and sharing tomatoes and doing crafts. Survivors that will cherish her memory are her husband Larry, five children - Eric (Lynn) Collins of Gig Harbor, Washington, Chris Collins of Rush, Colorado, Kendall Collins of Garwin, Melissa (Chris) Wood of Westerly, Rhode Island, and Teressa (Paul) Pellett of Stoughton, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Seren, Ava, Annaliesa, Julianne, Laura and Owen as well as her siblings, Don (Jane) Benbow of Marshalltown, Virginia (Steven) Stockdale of Iowa Falls, John (Mary) Benbow of La Jolla, California, and Wayne (Connie) Benbow of Lakewood, Colorado, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
