Jason was born June 16, 1970 to parents Jerry and Dorothy “Dottie” (Turbett) Thiessen in Marshalltown, IA. He attended school in South Tama, later to receive his GED. He worked at Lennox for 24 years. He was a member at Carlton Brethren Church. From the age of 7, Jason started taking things apart and putting them back together. He may have parts leftover, but they always worked when he was done. He could fix anything. He completely gutted and rebuilt the house he owned to make it his home. Jason loved having his big garage and spent much of his free time working on cars, trucks, lawn mowers, and snow blowers. He was also an excellent welder. He always looked forward to going to the Vining Flea Market and Auction every year to see the old farm equipment and antiques. Jason loved camping, fishing and sitting around bonfires. He was very adventurous. He loved wearing his cowboy hat and boots and even had a pair of spurs. Jason loved his dog Bella and all the pets he owned over the years. He also enjoyed collecting wolves and antique novelties. His family always said “Jason’s heart was too big for his body.” He was so looking forward to walking his niece Jordyn down the aisle. He never met a stranger – would give anyone the shirt off his back. If you needed help, Jason was there! He grew up on a farm and took away a strong work ethic, almost to the point of perfectionism. Jason was also a big jokester and made many people smile. Left to cherish his memory are his parents: Dorothy “Dottie” (Bradley “Brad”) Theophilus of Marshalltown and Jerry (Linda) Thiessen of Toledo; his son, Adam Thiessen of Lynnville; his sister Amber (Brent) Schulz of Omaha, NE; his brother Ryan (Amanda) Thiessen of Burleson, TX; nieces Jordyn and Sarah Thiessen, and nephews Tyler Schulz and Samuel Thiessen. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents: DuWane and Lillian Thiessen and Charles and Doris Turbett; and his brother, Shane Thiessen. He was also heartbroken by the loss of his beloved pug, Ziva in February. View the memorial service live stream: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/
