Jay Haynes, 71, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Visitation for Jay will be held from 12:30 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Jays family will be present to greet friends. Funeral services for Jay will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Chad Cook officiating. The family requests everyone wear casual attire. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jay and his family. Jay Haynes was born on February 8, 1943, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Carver and Ventura (Ambler) Haynes. He was raised and educated in the Garwin School District graduating from Garwin High School. Jay honorably served his country for two years while in the United States Army. Jay was united in marriage to Donna Boelman on September 2, 1972, in Missouri. From this union, two children were born. They were together until Donnas passing on January 23, 1992. Jay later married Diana Beck on January 28, 2002, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Jay was a hardworking man, working for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years before retiring with them. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Jay had a passion for trains, woodworking, anything outdoors, helping his neighbors with anything they needed and the occasional beer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Diana Beck; children: Nikki (Aaron) Dannen and Heidi (Rusty) Karsjen; step children: Chad (Brenda) Cook, Drew Crosby and Paige Glore; grandchildren: Breanna, Justice, Hunter, Sydney Dannen and Kennedy Haynes-Hulbert; step-grandchildren: Brandon White, Cody Cook, Jeremy Crosby, Ashley Crosby, Leana Gaona and Jacob Hurtado; great-grandchildren: Damien Cruz, Bentley White and Bella Crosby; siblings: Fred (Judy) Haynes, Lloyd (Helen) Haynes, Gary Haynes, Monte (Helga) Haynes and Duane Haynes. He is preceded in death by his first wife: Donna (Boelman) Haynes; father, Carver Haynes; his mother, Ventura Haynes; two sisters: Davida Pierce and Sandy Funk;
