Dorcas Jean Geneva Baty, 79 of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown.Funeral services will be held on June 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed towards the family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jean and her family. Phone 641-844-1234.Jean Mills was born on November 8, 1933, in Lakecreek, Texas, to Farris Leo Mills and Ollie Myrtle Black. She moved to California as a teenager and then moved to Marshalltown in 1991. Jean had been employed for Kum and Go as an Assistant Manager for eighteen years before retiring in 2006. Jean enjoyed cooking, especially for the Mission, playing card games and Yahtzee, gospel and western music, reading, playing bingo, fishing and especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Deborah Veld (Greg) Purvis of Marshalltown and Jamie Veld of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) Storjohann of Colfax and Mitchell (Andrea) Storjohann of Marshalltown. Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Kylee, Kaylee, Jacob, Mikhail, Raegan, Isabella, Ryleigh and Alyson Storjohann. Brothers: Bobbie and Billie Mills of California and a sister Ella Brekke of Washington.Jean is preceded in death by both of her parents and sisters: Dorothy Rogers, Oleta Sowell and Marsha Frisbie.
