Jean Ellen Roberts

Jean Ellen Roberts, 69, of Melbourne, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services for Jean will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at New Hope Christian Church with Pastor Kerry Jech officiating.  Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Jean will be laid to rest at the Melbourne Memorial Garden Cemetery following services.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Jean’s name to her family which will be later designated elsewhere.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Jean and her family. Jean Ellen Montgomery was born on January 26, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Birtha (Carl) Montgomery.  On May 11, 2006, Jean was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arthur “Art” Roberts, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  She was a very dedicated homemaker, always making sure that Art and her family was well taken care of each and every day.  She was also an artist in her free time.  Jean’s main passion in life was the time spent with her family and friends but she also enjoyed photography, painting, crafting, and her dogs.  Left to cherish Jean’s memory is her loving husband, Art Roberts; children: Sarah Boring, Francis Boring, Tim and Rebecca Kern, Krista and Josh Howes, Ken and Susan Roberts, Mark and Nancy Roberts, Larry and Deb Roberts, Zain and Jen Christensen and Zeb Christensen; grandchildren: Allan Howes, Jessica Howes, Faith Howes, Eva Kern, Allie Roberts, Jake and Cassie Roberts, Markie Roberts, Brett Roberts, Cody Roberts, Courtney Roberts, Casey Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Aiden Christensen and Laney Christensen; great-grandchildren: Beau Roberts and Elodie Roberts; siblings: Mark and Marty Montgomery, Don and Patricia Davis, Bob Katon and Cheryl Katon; as well as her pets, Blessed and Happy (Dogs), Squirrels and Birds. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Birtha Montgomery.
