Services for Jeanette will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 1:30 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Rick Bachman officiating.  A visitation will take place one hour prior, beginning at 12:30 P.M.  Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Jeanette’s name to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown (1921 Taylor Ave, 641-753-9046) or to ASPCA ( www.aspca.org ).  For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Jeanette Lee was born on June 8, 1939 in Marshalltown to parents Dean and Hilda (Meier) Goodman.  After graduating from Melbourne High School in 1957, she went on to attend Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, where she received a degree in education and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  Jeanette taught third grade for a total of 45 years before retiring from West Marshall School.  She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne, as well as ISEA and NEA.  She adored her family and cared deeply for her pets.  Jeanette was fascinated by monarch butterflies and even tagged and tracked one all the way to Mexico with her students.  Left to cherish her memory is her children:  Jana (Mike) Collins of Parker, CO and John (Andrea) Dickkut of Arvada, Co and her grandchildren:  Chelsea (Lance) Waddill of Lakewood, CO and Johnny Dickkut of Scottsdale, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Hilda.
