Jerry Butler

Jerry Dean Butler was born in Hannibal, MO on July 28, 1951 to Glen Butler and Edna Adams Butler. He died on Dec. 8 2015 in Marshalltown, IA. The family moved to Eldora in 1963 where he attended the Eldora schools. Jerry had a natural mechanical ability and enjoyed tinkering with motors, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed working with his grandparents farming. He worked as a farm hand, mechanic, handyman, and was a service technician for GTE. Most recently he lived in Marshalltown, IA. A Celebration of Life for family and friends was held on Dec. 16. He is survived by his children Liza (Dan) Tiensvold, Eldora, Jeremy (Kara) Butler, Union, Nathan (Breanne) Butler, Union, Brittany (Butler) Marshall (Michael Small), Eldora, Jason (Caitlyn) Butler, Manson, IA, Clinton (Taryn) Butler, Fort Campbell, KY, Brandon Butler and Kody Butler, Pomeroy, IA. Grandchildren Tanner, Bodie, Aden, Waylen, Lydia and Asa Butler, Devon Woods, Brianna Fleming, Michael and Miya Small. Brothers John (Linda) Butler, Gifford, Bill (Kathy) Butler, Eldora, Chris Frerichs, Des Moines, sisters Cindy (Bill) Strickland, Kingston, TN, and Pam (Steve) Schaller, Clear Lake, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Glen Butler, Edna Butler Frerichs, stepdad Ivan Frerichs and brother Terry Butler.
