Jerry R. Farmer, 55, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday January 2, 2010, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Friday, January 1st, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Pine Lake Wildlife Club, 32740 210th St, Eldora, Iowa, 50627. Jerry Robert Farmer was born January 10, 1954, along with his twin brother John to Gene M. and Alice (Akers) Farmer. He attended school in Eldora, graduating in the class of 1972 and later attended Ellsworth College for 1 year. He married Miekka Kienzle in Eldora and they later divorced. Jerry had worked for Northrup King Seed Company in Eldora for 20 years and then Lennox in Marshalltown for the last 16 years and also at Hy-Vee in Marshalltown. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying duck hunting, fishing in the summer and winter, squirrel hunting, and mushroom hunting. Jerry was a member of the Local UAW, Pine Lake Wildlife Club, and Hope United Methodist Church of Marshalltown. Jerry will be missed by his loving companion of 15 years, Carol Maxfield of Marshalltown; his daughters Sherri (Travis) Walker of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Sara Danger (Darl Starek) of Ackley, Iowa; Jerrys step-children Rodney (Tom) Maxfield of Des Moines, and Kelly Maxfield (Adrian Robinson) of Lincoln , Nebraska, Jerrys grandchildren: Zach, Jacob, Kelsey, Kayleigh, Jordan, Tiffany, Josh, Paige, Elizabeth, Jaedon, Eva, and a little granddaughter on the way in May, 2010; his father and stepmother Gene and Margaret Farmer of Eldora; his siblings Larry(Janice) Farmer of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Cynthia ( Lyle) Mayer of Marshalltown, Jerrys twin brother John(Bea )Farmer of Eldora, and Tom( Erin) Farmer of Knoxville Tennessee . In death, Jerry rejoins his mother Alice, his step mother Zella, and a brother David who died in infancy.
