Jerry Lee Clark

The kind and self-less soul of Jerry Lee Clark, 77, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Southridge Specialty Care under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Funeral services for Jerry will take place on Friday, January 7 at 11:00 A.M. at the Marshalltown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dave Childers officiating. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 6 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. All attendees for the service and visitation are invited to wear casual attire. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Born January 17, 1944 in Winterset, Iowa, he was the son of Paul and Naomi (Howell) Clark. He and his five siblings grew up in Winterset, where he graduated from high school in 1962. Jerry moved to Marshalltown and dedicated 44 years in the shipping department at Cooper Manufacturing. Jerry was blessed to find love two times in his life. He was first united in marriage to Sharon Hauser and they were blessed with a son. Sharon later passed away. Jerry then met and fell in love with Jean Taylor and they were united in marriage in April of 2007. Together they combined their families. Jerry and Jean celebrated seven years of marriage before her passing in 2014. He loved showering his family with love and affection and always knew how to make them laugh. He could always light up a room with his sunny disposition, piercing blue eyes and infectious smile. Jerry was selfless, always willing to help and give the shirt off his back. He was an excellent bowler and served as president of the USBC – Marshalltown Bowling Association for several years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed traveling, Bingo and golf. He was an unbeatable cribbage master and an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Ryan Clark, Sandy (Todd) Dale, Ken (Cindy) Smoldt, Jeff (Alison) Smoldt and Brad Smoldt; grandchildren: Adam (Chelsea) Dubois, Taylor (Pete) Nieland, Ethan (Lexi) Smoldt, Josh (Kiley) Smoldt, Justin Smoldt, Colton Smoldt, Hunter Smoldt, Lindsey Smoldt, Sophie Smoldt, Rylinn Dale and Kasia Dale; great-grandchildren: Harper Whitehead, Haven Smoldt, Braxtyn Dubois, Hadley Dubois, Kinzley Smoldt, Kaisen Nieland and Asher Smoldt; his siblings: Paul (Pat) Clark and Gwen Clark and his dog, Pepper. Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon and second wife, Jean; his parents, Paul and Naomi; brothers: Carroll Clark and John “Jack” Clark; his sister, Lovisa Flynn and his dogs: JJ and Coco.
