Jerry D. Parsons

Jerry Dean Parsons, 86, of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025 surrounded by family.

Jerry was born on June 14, 1938 in Des Moines, to “CD” (Carol Dean) and Virginia (Whitaker) Parsons. He moved to Gladbrook in the 8th grade and graduated from Gladbrook HS. Jerry was a dedicated builder and craftsman for over 50 years, known for his work at Gethmann Construction and owner of Parsons Construction.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed boating, camping, visiting casinos, collecting vintage cars, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, wood working, and square dancing. He also enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandkids’ activities. Jerry was always working on various home improvement projects for family too numerous to name. He was also always available for friends when anything needed repaired. His kind heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his significant other of 31 years, Jeanne Ewalt; two children: Shellee Parsons-Jordebrek (Brent) and Mikl (Mike) Parsons (Valinda) and their mother, Eleanor Lott; three step-children: Mark Tudeen (Melissa), Tracy Van Wyk (Evan), and Ann Kurth (David); his sister, Sandy Mohr; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, “CD” and Virginia; son, Rusty; and daughter, Kristine.

Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Jerry and his family. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, in Marshalltown, IA. Pastor Bobby Shomo will be officiating.
