Jerry Dean Sagar, 50, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A celebration of Jerrys life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14th, 2008 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Reverend Charlie Fry officiating. The family requests that casual attire be worn by those attending the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on September 27, 1957, in Nevada, he was the son of John L. and Helen (Douglas) Sagar. Jerry graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1976. He was a self-employed sub-contractor doing drywall and plaster finishing work. He had previously worked as a boilermaker, worked at Lennox, was a truck driver, and he owned Iowa River Customs motorcycle shop. Jerry enjoyed motorcycles, gardening, fishing, golfing, playing Frisbee golf, and being with his friends and his family. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Tracy Sagar, Candra Sagar, and Cali Sagar, all of Marshalltown; his parents, John L. and Helen Sagar of Marshalltown; his brothers, Ken (Holly) Sagar of Des Moines and John A. Sagar of Carolina Beach, N.C.; nieces Celene and Cari; nephews Nick, Matt, John E., and Trevor (T.J.); and a very special friend, Shawna Cutler. In death, he has rejoined his grandparents, two uncles, one aunt, and his sister-in-law Lisa Sagar.
