Jerry Vandekamp

Jerry George VandeKamp, 77, of Melbourne, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his home. Memorial services for Jerry will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Jerry VandeKamp was born on April 4, 1941 in Marshalltown to George and Vera (Wilkinson) VandeKamp. He graduated from Rhodes High School. On June 26, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to Leah Eldridge and together they lived in Rhodes and Melbourne. Jerry had been employed with the railroad, Strands bakery and retired from Fisher Controls in 2003. Jerry was a proud member of the UAW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, woodworking and farming. Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leah; children: Dean VandeKamp of Rhodes and Tammy VandeKamp of Melbourne, as well as his grandchildren: Josiah, Regan and Alec; brothers, Lonnie VandeKamp of Texas and Jon (Pam) VandeKamp also of Texas. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, George and Vera.
