Jesse William Strike Jr, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 under the care of his family, the Windsor Manor in Grinnell and the Grinnell Regional Hospice. Services for Jesse will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to either the Windsor Manor in Grinnell or the Grinnell Regional Hospice. Jesse Strike was born on August 8, 1921 to Jesse and Bessie (Everest) Strike in Marshalltown. Jesse was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District. Jesse was united in marriage to Donnileen Green on October 17, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Jesse worked at Fisher Control for 42 years before retirement. Jesse was a member of the First Baptist Church and the President of the Iowa Rock Club. Jesse enjoyed collecting rocks, camping, fishing and doing mission work in Nicaragua, Alaska, Mexico and the southwest United States. Most importantly, Jesse enjoyed the time spent with his family. Jesse is survived by his children: Alicia (Ryan) Intlekofer, Cathy (Catherine Bratcher) Strike and Gail (Larry) Dieffenderfer. Grandchildren: Scott (Patty) Zager, Barb Zager, Michael (Sue) Zager, Maja Clayton, Brian (Kristin) Dieffenderfer and Matthew (Sunny) Dieffenderfer. Great grandchildren: Jesse Zager, Linnea Zager, Darci Zager, Allison Clayton, Benjamin Clayton, Landen Dieffenderfer and Aiden Dieffenderfer. Sister: Patty (Bill) Bloodgood and sister in law Bonnie Buchwald and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jesse is preceded in death by his wife Donnileen, parents Jesse and Bessie, two brothers: Robert and Lowell Strike, sister Betty Brierley and great granddaughter Mia Dieffenderfer. Jesse lived his life with joy and courage through his faith in God.
