Jim Funke

Jim Funke, 60, of rural Clemons, joined his mother in eternal life on the afternoon of August 2, 2011, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. His death came but 36 hours after his mom, Marjorie Funke, passed away at their home. Joint funeral services will be held with his mother at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Bivens Grove Cemetery near the family home near Clemons. Joint visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on September 16, 1950, in Marshalltown he was the son of Harold and Marjorie (Easton) Funke. He graduated from the West Marshall High Schools Class of 1968. Jim enjoyed farming and had been employed in years past at Montgomery-Wards, Fisher Controls and more recently as bus driver for West Marshall and Farm Service in Nevada. He was devoted to the care of his mother and was a faithful employee to wherever he worked. Jim was a member of the Flathead Bar and Grills Executive Board in St. Anthony and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Cheryl (Charlie) Brown of Marshalltown, Randy Funke of St. Anthony, Brian Buzz (Becky) Funke of Nevada, and Cindy Funke of Zearing; aunts, uncles, cousins as well as nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.In death, he rejoined his parents, his sister Bobbi Bartlett and his dog- Dog, which he farmed with for many years.
