Jimmie Ray Keller, 68 of Garwin died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his home in Garwin while under the care of Iowa River Hospice and surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Slade ODonnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. He will be laid to rest in the Decatur Cemetery at Leon. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. For condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Jimmie Ray Keller was born on March, 18, 1942 in Leon, Iowa; he was the son of Raymond and Alice (Mark) Keller. Jimmie had attended country school at Scott school near Pleasanton, then attending school at Central Decatur in Leon. Jimmie served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. On May 1, 1964 Jimmie married Jean Rollins in Allerton, Iowa. They lived in Leon, Marshalltown, and Toledo, before finally settling in Garwin for the last 35 years. Jimmie had worked in Leon at Piefer Grocery, then worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown and retired from there after 35 years. After retiring from Fisher he worked at Meskwaki Hotel and Casino in Tama as a Guest Ambassador. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, gardening, all sports and the card games with his boys. Left to celebrate Jimmies memory is his wife Jean of Garwin, his sons; Jeff (Kristy) of Bennett, Colorado, Mike (Candace) of Grinnell, Greg (Deb) of Geneva, Matt (Leisha) of Baxter, Kevin (Nancy) of Grundy Center and Kyle of Knoxville, his grandchildren Aaron, McKenna, Orrin, Abby, Keegan, Tory, Kayden, and Cooper, his step-grandchildren: Rachel, Zach and Ethan Bale and Josh and Garrett Hoffman, his siblings: Norman (Patti) Keller of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Gary (Donna) Keller of Decatur, Roy Keller of Winchester, Illinois, Richard (Jeri) Keller of Norwalk, Ruth (Ray) Heick of Davis City, Fay (Harold) Blunt of Leon, Gail Rumley of Osceola, Reva Jackson of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Dee (Jack) Lukenbill of Lamoni, and Carolyn (Joe) Ness of Leon, sister-in-law Lelia Keller of Creston, brother-in-law Larry (Lois) Rollins of Powesville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews who all had a special place in his heart. In death Jimmie rejoins his grandson: Kole Keller, brothers: Dale Keller and Guy Keller, sister and brother-in-laws: Roberta Keller, Rose Keller, Lester Lumley, Warren Jackson, and Roger Rollins.
