Born on January 25th, 1948, in Merservy, Iowa, he was the son of Johannas and Vergena (Bonte) Pals. He graduated in Merservy in 1966 and later attended NIACC in Mason City before moving to Marshalltown to begin his 35 year long career at Fisher Controls until retiring in 2002. On May 25th, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sharon Fehrmann in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown with their two children. After retirement, Jimmie worked in custodial for the Marshalltown Schools, Hy-Vee, and most recently for two years with his son at Diamond-Vogel. Jimmie was quite a prankster who enjoyed helping others, doing woodwork, playing Santa Claus, grill-outs with friends, and was a member of the UAW Local #893 and the Moose Lodge. In 2005, he and Sharon devoted their efforts by going to New Orleans with the Red Cross to help in Katrina efforts and in 2006 to the Pennsylvania floods. The Red Cross awarded them Volunteers of the Year in 2007 for their efforts. He also assisted with the ice storm in January 2007 at the Marshalltown Coliseum for housing. Left to cherish his memory are Sharon, his loving wife of 40 years, son Joe (Su McAteer) of Marshalltown and daughter Sherry Cope of Marshalltown, grandchildren- Brandon, Alex, Emily and Tyler, his mother-in-law Delores Denison of Marshalltown, three sisters Margie (Marvin) Thompson of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Karen (Albert) Strum of Geneva, Iowa, and Vivian (David) Swanson of Willmar, MN. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Sharons family. In death he has rejoined his parents.
