Jimmy was born March 6, 1949 in Freeport, Illinois to parents Raymond and Betty (Ruftman) Memmer. He grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he graduated from Washington Senior High School. Jimmy relocated to Central, Iowa, where he dedicated his career to working at Lennox Industries in Marshalltown for 40 years. He was blessed to share the last 30 years of his life with his companion, Dorothy (Lubbert) Blocker. They made their home in Gladbrook. Jimmy enjoyed a simple life – reading the morning paper, watching Westerns and drinking lots and lots of coffee. He loved spending time with his family, especially enjoying his five grandchildren. He was a member of the UAW and also enjoyed trips to the casino. Jimmy also had a passion for collecting Hot Wheels and had over 1,000 cars still in their original package (that not even his grandson, Deacon, was allowed to mess with).
Left to cherish his memory is Dorothy Blocker of Gladbrook, IA; children: James Memmer (Emilea Lundberg) of Huxley, IA, Jon Memmer and Billie (Jayson) Mull of Gladbrook, IA; five grandchildren: Leighton (Sophia) Memmer, Colin Memmer, Peytience Rice (Jordan), Alexa Mull (Blake) and Deacon Mull and special nieces Stacey and Sara Badger. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Janice Smith, Donald Lubbert, Mary Millard, Linda Mills, Diane Lubbert, Sandy Babinat and Larry Lubbert.
In eternal life, Jimmy is reunited with his parents, Raymond and Betty; his sister, Mary Bendush; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Donna and Bill Badger, Valerie Lubbert, Ed Mills and Rex Millard.
