Jo Ann (Mackey) Snyder, age 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Unity Point Health- Marshalltown Hospital.

Per Jo Ann and her family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no formal services have been scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed to her family for a future designation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Jo Ann and her family. Jo Ann Mackey was born on November 8, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey Leroy and Helen Elise (Barker) Mackey. She grew up in the Marshalltown community and attended Marshalltown High School. She was born in Marshalltown, spent a period of her life in Webster City, and later found her way back home to Marshalltown. Jo Ann took great pride in her membership in the Red Hat Society and spent many years working as a cashier in several convenience and grocery stores. In her free time, she loved cooking and baking, yet nothing delighted her more than playing Bingo and card games at the casino.

She is survived by her three children: Frank Thompson of Tucson, AZ., Helen Bordwell of Webster City, IA., and Terry (Deb) Thompson of Enterprise, KS.; her three grandchildren: Michael, Corey, and E.J.; her sister Judy (Michael) Jerome of Marshalltown; and her nieces: Donna, Diana, and Cindy.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents: Harvey and Helen; her husbands: Elby Adair Thompson, Richard Turner, and David Snyder; her sisters: Jean Ann and Geri MacTavish; and her brother Dennis Brooks.
