Joan Ladehoff Haskin Langan, 95, of Marshalltown, and formerly of Clinton, IA, passed away on the evening of Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 7 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Mary Cemetery in Clinton, IA under the direction of Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, IA. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Joan and her family. Joan Elinor Ladehoff was born September 8, 1925 in Clinton, IA. Daughter of Sidney and Elinor (Harrison) Norburg, she was later adopted by Arthur and Leona (Harrison) Ladehoff. She was the youngest of two children. Joan attended school in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School as a member of the class of 1942. She furthered her education and graduated from Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL with a diploma in nursing. She later got her B.A. from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. She met Howard A. Haskin, M.D. while studying in Chicago. They were later married in Clinton, IA on December 21, 1948. The two called numerous places home including Portland, OR, Coronado, CA, and Vancouver, WA. It was during this time that the two began a family of their own, raising three children together. They celebrated 16 years together until Howard’s passing. Joan worked at the Clinton Community College teaching nursing classes. On April 15, 1967, she was once again united in marriage to her husband Daniel Langan. She was a member of the Clinton P.E.O. and the Clinton Book Club. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her family. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her daughter Sue (Michael) Haskin Ashton; her grandchildren, Matthew Ashton, Jeffrey Ashton, Mollie Ashton, Robert Haskin, John Haskin, Julie Haskin and Elizabeth Haskin; her great-grandchildren, Jocealyn Brock, Veronica Brock, Michael Ashton, Arabella Suarez, Annabelle Ashton, Gabriel Ashton and Gracie Ashton. She was preceded in death by her husbands Howard A. Haskin MD and Daniel C. Langan; her sons Mark and Howard Haskin; her parents Arthur and Leona Ladehoff and her sister Mary Louise Rutenbeck.
