Joan Mckibben

Joan McKibben, 84, lifelong resident of Marshalltown, departed this life on the morning of Friday, January 29th, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Karen Cluts of the Elim Lutheran Church officiating. Born Joan Wilcox on May 22, 1931, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Foy and Alice (Niederhauser) Wilcox. She received her education in the area of her birth. In August of 1950, she was united in marriage to Clifford McKibben in Marshalltown. Marshalltown was their home where they raised seven children. Joan was a loving wife, mother and later grandma and great-grandma who loved to bake cookies, do word-search books, watch game shows, making sure her grandkids had orange slice candies and had quite a collection of solar-powered wobblers in the house. She was a longtime member of the Elim Lutheran Church and the Taco Johns Taco Tuesday McKibben family gatherings. Left to cherish her memory are her children- Suzanne (Gary) Boldt of Gladbrook; Janet (Ed) Jordebrek of Clemons; Jane McKibben of Cedar Rapids; Jill (Christopher) Hickson of Kenosha, WI; Joel (Anne) McKibben of West Des Moines; Jon McKibben of Waukee and James (Brandy) McKibben of Marshalltown as well as the blessings of 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and her sister, Marilyn Hall of Marshalltown. In death, Joan rejoined her beloved Cliff, her parents Foy and Alice, brother Donald Wilcox and granddaughter, Amy Boldt.
