Joann Wall, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on June 9, 2024 at Bickford Cottages in Marshalltown and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
A graveside service for Joann will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour, Iowa beginning at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Terry Collins officiating. Elizabeth Joann Adkins was born on October 18, 1932 in rural Marshall County near Wolfe Ranch. She was the youngest of 10 children born to James and Clara (Ralls) Adkins. Joann grew up attending school in Newberg and Ferguson. She graduated from Ferguson High School in 1950.
On April 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Albert E. Wall in Montour, Iowa. They called Montour their home for a brief time before making a home just off of highway 30 and 330 for 69 years. Together Joann and Albert had five children of their own, Bob, Brian, Jana, Jill, and Brett. Joann worked for the Marshalltown Community School District driving the school busses for 34 years until her eventual retirement. In her free time, Joann enjoyed going dancing, camping and attending Bluegrass festivals with friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Bob Wall, Brian (Marnie) Wall, Jana Beth (Mark) Malcom, Jill Funk, and Brett Wall; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Pat Adkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Bud” Wall; her parents, James and Clara Adkins; and her nine siblings; and a grandson
