Born Joceline Sheffer on July 17, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Bernard and Bessie (Bowman) Sheffer. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Tech High School. After meeting the love of her life, Darrell Myers, they were united in marriage on July 30, 1971. Darrell’s time in the military took them all over, including Germany, Kentucky and Colorado. They returned to Marshalltown, Iowa, where they raised their two daughters and have since called home.
Joyce dedicated 38 ½ years to the Iowa Veterans Home, retiring as the Assistant Director of Dietary. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, dancing at Past Time and listening to live music with her sister. More than anything, she lived for her family, adored her husband and loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She also loved her precious cat, Kitty Baby.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 51 years, Darrell; her daughters: Jody Perry (Ronald Hinders) of Marshalltown and Jenny Myers of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Maribel, Elena, Amador, Madison, Bella, Isaiah, David and Aeris; great-grandson, David Tyler; her siblings: Larry Bowman of Newton, IA, Daryl Sheffer of Sioux City, IA and Bernadine Hunt of Stockton, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
In eternal life, Joyce is reunited with her parents, Bernard and Bessie; her brothers: Bernard Sheffer Jr. and Everin Sheffer; and her twin sister, Jacqueline.
