Jodi Plaehn

Jodi Plaehn, 60, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of April 11, 2024 at Iowa River Hospice Home with her son by her side.

Jodi Elizabeth Scarbrough was born on July 20, 1963 in Newton, IA. She is the daughter of Wilbur Burton Scarbrough and Mary Alyce Scarbrough. She graduated in 1981 from Newton Senior High and continued education at cosmetology school where she wanted to become a hairdresser. She later fulfilled these dreams and opened up a hair salon in Liscomb Iowa.

Jodi was united in marriage to Jeffrey Plaehn for a short time and together they had two children, Alex and Eli Plaehn. Jodi also had two other children, Jeremy and Chelsea Doran. Jodi worked after her hair salon for Meskwaki Bingo Casino. In her most recent job, she worked for CIRSI in Marshalltown, where she enjoyed helping other people. In her free time, she enjoyed being around family and friends. Jodi was always up for an adventure, whatever that entailed. She also had a love for animals, more specifically, her two dogs: Portia and Sugar.

Jodi was preceded in death by her mother Mary Alyce Scarbrough, her father Wilbur Burton Scarbrough, and her brother Robert A. Scarbrough.

Jodi is survived by her sister Linda Davies and her children, Chelsea Doran, Jeremy Doran, Alex Plaehn, and Eli Plaehn; her granddaughter, Charlotte Henderson; and nieces and nephews, Rhondi Machin, Chad Machin and Robin Ball.
