Joe Overstake, born on August 27, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, and passed away on December 5, 2025, in the care of Glenwood Place..

Joe began his professional journey working at the LeGrand Shell Station for Furman Parks, eventually leasing and operating the business himself. His career took a significant turn in 1964 when he joined the CNW Railroad, transitioning through their acquisition by Union Pacific. In 1995, Joe and his wife Betty relocated to North Platte, Nebraska, where Joe continued to pursue his dedicated work until his retirement in 2002. Following retirement, the couple returned home to the LeGrand community, capturing the essence of where Joe's roots lay.

Joe graduated from LeGrand High School in 1958. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for small gas engines and tractors, a hobby that demonstrated his mechanical aptitude. His youthful spirit also led him to engage in drag racing at venues such as Quad-City Downs and Anita, Iowa. A true automotive enthusiast, Joe held a special fondness for all cars and had the magic touch to fix even the most challenging of repairs.

Joe was a former member of the LeGrand Snow Seekers, The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and served on the LeGrand Volunteer Fire Department

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Betty (Halverson) Overstake, whom he married on July 7, 1957.
