JoeAnn Elmore was born March 15, 1932, in Paragould, Arkansas. She was one of four children born to Joseph and Lura (Holcomb) Elmore. She grew up and attended school in Paragould, later graduating from Paragould High School.

JoeAnn was a loving and devoted mother of four children: Dixie, Julie, Susie and Adam. She raised her family in Arkansas and Illinois, and came to Iowa in 1965, eventually calling Marshalltown her home. She began a career which spanned over 20 years for Marshall County as a pre-sentence investigator, which often placed her in charge of those on probation or parole. Her job was an extremely important part of her life and she often said that God had given that job to her for a particular reason. At retirement, she met Richard Finch and the two were united in marriage.

JoeAnn was always active in community events from a young age. When she relocated to Marshalltown, she became a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was a member of the 100 Club. She made the effort to meet with her many friends on a weekly basis. She was an avid reader and writer. JoeAnn had a knack for entertainment, often helping with different gatherings and family functions. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was often asked to sing at weddings for her friends and family. One of her favorite pastimes was golf, and you always knew in the afternoons to find her on the golf course; she went almost every afternoon for 25 years.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children: Julie (Steve) Adams, Susie (Matt) Davis and Adam (Brett) Davis; her grandchildren, Jenny (Kyle) Brown, Chelsea (Rich) Jamison, Gretchen (Kirk) Tedrow, Brett (Ryan) Brown; great-grandchildren, Kyla (Chase) Boddicker, Allison (Seth) Meyer, Lily Brown, Lui Brown, Jonah Brown, Avery Tedrow, Finley Tedrow, Dillon Jamison and Cody Jamison; and great-great-grandchildren, Anya, Montana, Apollo, Brantley and Kai. Additionally, she is survived by her nieces, Nancy, Scherrie, Tammy and Melanie.

In eternal life, she is rejoined with her husband, Richard; her daughter, Dixie Zahorik; parents, Joseph and Lura Elmore; brother, in infancy, JG, and her sisters, Sue Talley, Judy Stillings and Deborah Holland.
