Joel Wirth

Joel Wirth, age 74, of Marshalltown, passed away at home on Thursday, August 6, 2020. Joel was born January 29, 1946 in Boyden, IA to parents Frederick James and Alva Jean (Den Herder) Wirth.  He grew up on a farm and graduated from high school in Marcus, IA.  He honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Joel lived in Marshalltown the majority of his life.  He was a “Jack of all trades.” In his free time, he enjoyed auto mechanics, cooking and barbequing.  He was very passionate about dogs.  Left to cherish his memory are his children: Joely (Chris) Skinner, Nathan (Jennifer) Wirth and Adam Wirth; grandchildren Kyrié (Dakota) Erfle, Matthew “Kiliki” (Carina) Skinner, Kiana Skinner, Bailey Wirth, Benjamin Wirth and Brinley Wirth; his siblings and “grand-dog” Lola. Joel is preceded in death by his life companion Sylvia Grandgeorge, son Mark Wirth, parents Frederick and Alva, multiple siblings and his dog Gus. Joel’s children want to personally thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and kindly ask that no flowers be sent.
