JoEllin Sue Dickkut, age 71, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.


A funeral service for JoEllin will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elim Lutheran Church and the Red Cross. JoEllin was born May 19, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Max and Caryl (Ellin) Boggs. She attended Marshalltown High School and graduated with the class of 1970. On June 10, 1972, JoEllin married the love of her life, Herb Dickkut at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Right after high school she soon joined the workforce and went on to work for Fisher Controls. For the next 37 years she enjoyed working in the systems implementation and training department and traveled to many countries. JoEllin was very active in the ministry of the Elim Lutheran Church, including president of the church council, the women’s group, and coffee club. She adored spending time with her grandson, Andrew, and attending his events. JoEllin also loved spending time at the ocean (odeo), travelling and exploring new places, and growing various flowers especially yellow hibiscus and hydrangea. She enjoyed cooking meals and desserts for her family especially during the fall harvest and holidays. Those closest to her heart will forever remember her as “JoJo” or “Mid”.


She is survived by her husband Herb, her son Greg (Amy) and grandson Andrew of Grimes, Iowa, and her siblings; Garry (Chris) Boggs of Albion, Iowa and Larry (Mindy) Boggs of Atlanta, Georgia.


JoEllin is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Glenn and Hazel; her maternal grandparents, Christopher and Genevieve; her parents, Max and Caryl; her son, Herb; and her brother, Denny Boggs.
