John Wilson Daugherty, 69, of Marshalltown, passed away to Heaven on January 1, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Immel of the Carlton Brethren Church officiating. Cremation rites will follow the services with burial at a later date in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. He was born to celebrate life on January 23rd, 1938, at Vinton, Iowa. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Rena (Robinett) Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty retired from Fisher Controls after 35 years and was employed at CIRSI for a time. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Mary and three children: Debra and Lloyd Fisher of Marshalltown and children Shane and Tammy Brown, TJ Brown and Rachael, Chip and Ashley Brown, Michelle and Chris Beattie and Christopher Brown; Son Jerry Daugherty and wife Deanna of Coralville and their daughters Nina, Erica and Marissa; Daughter Pam Wilson and her husband Rick of Garwin and their three children: R.J., Mary and JJ, six great-grandchildren: Brad, Kaitlin, Aspen, Brianne, Emma and Ashley, and three brothers: Robert (Lael) Daugherty of Ft. Worth, TX, Willis Daugherty and Charles (Patricia) Daugherty of Cedar Rapids. He loved life, his family, and his neighbors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bingo (Johnny Bingo!) and gardening. But above all he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Mary.
