John Robert Davids

John Robert Davids, 73, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died Sunday December 14th, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, with his loving family at his side. Graveside services will be held atNoon Wednesday, December 17th at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, IA. Memorials may be directed to his family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for John, and his family. Phone 641-844-1234. Born August 17th, 1935, in Unionville, MO, John was the son of Marion and Inez (Woodruff) Davids. He graduated in 1954 from the Laurel High School in Laurel, IA. John then served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, from 1954-1956. He was stationed in Germany with his brothers Oscar and Jesse. The three of them entertained the troops in Germany and France, singing and playing country and western music. John was united in marriage to Anieta Fahrni in Marshalltown, where the couple resided. John worked in trucking and freight sales for 33 years. Left to cherish Johns memory is his wife Anieta; his children: Kevin (Amy) Davids of CT, Heather (Michael) Halvorson of CT, and Janet (Mark) Howard of WI; his step-children: Nancy Adrian of SD, Linda (Jeff) Pate of Osceola, Diane Rutherford of CO, and Roger (Lisa) Fahrni of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Katelyn and Benjamin Halvorson, Carrie and Stephen Davids, Nicholas and Jack Howard; 7 step-grandchildren; brothers Oscar and Jesse Davids; sisters Mildred Heminover and Lois Smith. In death, John has rejoined his parents, his sister Margaret Thomasson, and his brother Earnest Davids.
