John W. Eatwell Jr., 81, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died Thursday, August 20, 2009.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009, at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ph 641-844-1234.John William Eatwell Jr. was born on March 22, 1928, in Mingo, Iowa. He was the son of John William Sr. and Florence (Rollings) Eatwell. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1947. He served our country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 30, 1966, John married Ilse Wiebensohn. The couple lived in Gladbrook, Waukee, at Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma, and in Marshalltown.John worked at John Deere in tool and die for over 28 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed working on cars and fixing things. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, American Legion, and a past member of UAW 450 in Des Moines.John will be missed by his wife, Ilse, of Marshalltown; his children; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his three sisters.In death, he has rejoined his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
