John Jordan Sr., 53, of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, rejoined his beloved wife Cynthia on the evening of Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown surrounded by his children.
Services for John will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. John Daryll Jordan Sr. was born December 8, 1970 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of thirteen children born to Robert and Lena (Smith) Jordan. John grew up in Marshalltown and had attended school at Marshalltown schools. He later in life completed the requirements to receive his GED.
John was united in marriage to Cynthia Jo Taylor and the two made their home together in Marshalltown, Iowa. They welcomed four children, Shyannon, John Jr., Dylan and Montana. John worked as an over the road trucker for many years and served with various companies until he had to retire due to health reasons. He and Cynthia made Marshalltown their home for many years together creating many happy memories with their family and together they moved to Ames in 2023. In John’s free time, he enjoyed listening to rock music, playing various video games, going fishing, and tinkering with things around the house. He loved to collect clowns around the house, making sure that there was always a pot of coffee in the morning and watching horror films. He enjoyed playing pranks on anyone who would fall for them and spending time with his dog Stella. He was always excited for any holiday that would roll around so that he could spend plenty of time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to remember and cherish John’s memory are his children, Shyannon (Michael) Martinez, John Jordan Jr., Dillon Jordan and Montana Jordan; grandchildren, Htaeh Jordan, Myra Jordan, Jacoby Gonsalez, LeyLoni Guffey and Wren Jordan; his mother, Lena Jordan; his siblings, Steven Jordan, Bobby Jordan, Travis James Jordan, Russell James Jordan, Jackie Thompson, Angela Bellinger, Vickie Purk, Tammy Rosales and Jill Guzman; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cynthia who passed September 22, 2024; his father, Robert Jordan; siblings, Doug Jordan, Jimmy James Jordan, Lachia Jordan and Brenda Neave; and his Aunt Lois Jordan.
A celebration of life for Cindy and John will be held at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church. 900 E. 5th St. Tama, Iowa
