Duke had a way of making every moment lighter. His humor, warmth, and natural ability to put a smile on anyone's face made him someone people instantly connected with. He was a wonderful brother and a loyal, loving son.
He was also a proud Minnesota Vikings fan, cheering passionately through every win and every tough season. His dedication to his team reflected his spirit- loyal, hopeful, and full of heart. Duke worked for Lennox International in Marshalltown, Iowa for 31 years and was a proud member of UAW- Local 893.
Duke is also survived by his siblings: Pam (Floyd) Shannon, Nancy Whittlesey, Linda Weishaubt, Hoss (Jill) Tompkins, Rochelle Blackford and Roxanne (Larry) Catherwood; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
John now joins his father, Jack, and his mother, Vivian, in eternal peace. While he will be deeply missed here on earth, the love he shared and the joy he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Duke’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his best friend Troy “Smiley” Kelly and the rest of the Kelley’s who he loved like family.
-Lovingly written by Duke’s family.
