John Moller

John Moller, age 81, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday night, August 25th, at the Grandview Heights. No funeral services will be held. Private interment rites will be held at the Center School Cemetery. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for John. John came into this world on November 18th, 1939. Little is known of him as he traveled this state very independently. He was united in marriage to Betty Long and the two were blessed with one son, Brian. Betty passed away while they resided in Des Moines some 30 years ago. Brian and John came to Marshalltown and lived at the Tallcorn on East Main Street. Brian died in December of 2008. In October of 2014, John moved to Grandview Heights. He arrived there with only the clothes on his back. The staff took him in with open arms and hearts and purchased neccesities for him out of their own pockets. They loved him and in return he flourished with his surroundings. After years of a transient lifestyle and minimal finances- even homelessness -as well as struggles with dependency, John found the best place ever. The staff became his family and they worked with him as health declined over the years. They made sure he was comfortable and pain free in those last days. John leaves no blood family that we know of. He leaves not a large bank account. But he died a very rich man from the love he recieved by his "family" at Grandview Heights.  In death, John was rejoined with Betty, Brian, his parents and other family members unknown but to God.
