John Anthony Pieters

John Anthony Pieters, 57, of Laurel, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at UnityPoint Health- Marshalltown Hospital.

John Pieters was born on June 26, 1968 in Marshalltown to Larry and Ilene (Sanders) Pieters. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1987. On October 2, 2009, John was united in marriage to Melissa “Missy” Sharer. John had previously worked at Fisher Controls for twenty-five years as a welder and retired in 2024. He was also an owner and operator of Pitchfork Primitives and Fodder in Laurel. John enjoyed fishing, stock car racing and cooking and grilling.

John is survived by his wife of 16 years: Missy. Children: Brock (Addie) Pieters and Lincoln Pieters. Grandchildren: Tate Pieters and Tucker Pieters. He is also survived by five sisters and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents: Larry and Ilene and his niece: Allison Yanes.
