John Ivan Ramsey, 70, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Craig Lutrell. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association for COPD research and the Iowa River Hospice Home. John Ramsey was born on July 28, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa to Clarence Bud and Ruth Lantz Ramsey. He graduated from Mason City Community College. On December 15, 1978, John was united to Helen Lolwing in Marshalltown. John had been retired from Ken Wise where he worked for 37 years. He also sold cars at Danskin and Marshall Volkswagen and spent 8 years managing McDonalds in Des Moines. He enjoyed antiques, going on road trips throughout the U.S. in search of treasures to make more beautiful and spending time with his family. John and his wife Helen also own and operate Main Street Antiques, which they have had for 25 years. John is survived by his spouse of 38 years, Helen. Children: Heather (Charlie) Kremers, Sara (James) Widmer, Amanda Ramsey, Teresa Paul (Tim Rebik) and Heidi (Dennis) Drager. Grandchildren: Jordan Wilson (Tom Hill), Wilson Paul, Andrew Widmer, Sam Widmer and Jason (Jessica) Drager. Great grandchildren: Piper Jane Junior Wilson and Caitlin Drager. He is also survived by his siblings Mark (Merrilee) Ramsey and special nieces Nikki, Cori and Carly as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ruth, brother, Jerry Ramsey, sister Elaine Croker and sister in law Rose Ramsey.
