John Lee St. Clair, 59, of Marshalltown passed away tragically on June 1, 2021. Cremation rites have been accorded and his family will have a celebration of life at a later time. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with John and his family’s care. To leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. John was born December 4, 1961, in Council Bluffs to parents William and Clarice (Laughlin) (Pinkerton) St. Clair. From an early age, John showed interest in all things hands-on. John graduated from high school in Kansas and shortly after enlisted in the military. John honorably served his country in the United States Army. John loved being outdoors and especially brought that love to his job at Allied Tree Service, where he worked for over 30 years. John was blessed to meet the love of his life, Stephanie Sonderleiter, and they married in July of 2003. For many years they enjoyed laughing and adventuring together, often leaving others smiling in their wake. In his free time, John liked playing chess, getting his hands on electrical work, and was a real “go-getter.” He helped replant many trees after the derecho storm. His impact will forever grow in Marshalltown, and he may be gone but will never be forgotten. Those left to cherish John’s memory are his beloved wife, Stephanie Sonderleiter; his daughter, Natashia Benda; his grandson, Jace Vargas; his brother, Paul St. Clair; his half-brother Mike South, and numerous friends and family members. John is rejoined in heaven with his parents; his half-brothers, Larry South, Billy South; and his half-sister Rhonda St. Clair.
