John David Wunn

John David Wunn, age 56, of Senatobia, Mississippi, passed on September 28, 2013 at Tennessee Valley Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Nashville, TN. Services will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for John and his family along with Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia, Mississippi. Phone: 641-844-1234. He was born on June 29, 1957, in Covina, CA to William Carroll and Loretta Jeanne Wunn. John proudly served in the US Navy for more than 10 years, where he was stationed on the USS James K. Polk and USS John C. Calhoun ballistic missile submarines, and later served as lead instructor of the C4 Fire Control System at the Naval Guided Missile School in Damneck, Virginia. He is survived by his children: daughter Emily Jeanne Wunn, (Michael); stepsons Gary Smith (Tabitha) and Phillip Smith (Heather); stepdaughter Jennifer Guy Smith (Trey); mother, Jeanne Wunn; brothers, Bill Wunn (Olga) and Michael Wunn (Jenny); sisters Melody Blinkmann (Richard) and Michael Denowh (Carl); five grandchildren, 14 nephews and nieces and several great- nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father, the late William C. Wunn and grandparents, the late John Liger, Lillian Liger-Capp and Ernest Capp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
