Johnnie Ray Cooper

Johnnie (John) R. Cooper, a beloved father and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 65.

Born on June 18, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of Harold D. and Elvina “Patty” (Camp) Cooper. John graduated from East High School in Des Moines and went on to touch the lives of many with his warmth and generosity.

John was a true jack of all trades, known for his infectious smile and loving spirit. He was a passionate painter, and his customers loved working with him, appreciating not only his talent but also his vibrant personality. He found joy in the simple things—spending time with family and friends, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, racing cars, and rebuilding race cars. He was always eager to share his knowledge with his children, Brandy and Johnnie Ray Cooper II, teaching them how to maintain their vehicles and handle repairs. These memories are treasures that his children will always hold dear.

A devoted father, John's love for Brandy and JC was immeasurable. He supported them both emotionally and financially, always ensuring they felt cherished and secure. His heart was as big as gold, reflecting his unwavering commitment to his family and his desire to provide them with a life filled with love.

While there will be no formal services per John's wishes, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, support, and unforgettable memories will remain with his family forever
