December 26, 1933 — April 29, 2022

Jon Renner, 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of Friday, April 29, 2022 at Grandview Heights under the care of Iowa River Hospice and surrounded by his loving family. Combined memorial services for Jon and his wife, Carolyn, will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. right until the service time. Memorials may be directed to the Jon Renner Scholarship at MCC or to Duck’s Unlimited. Jon attended school in Chicago where he later graduated from Austin High School. He furthered his education in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Coe College. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. On September 3, 1955, Jon was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carolyn Quinby in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they began a family of their own raising their three children, Biff, Jeff, and Brock. Jon worked for Blairstown High School and then later became the Athletic Director and basketball coach for Marshalltown Community College from 1963-1990. In his free time, Jon was a proud member and loved to serve on the committee boards for Ducks Unlimited. He was a founding member of the FLA Fishing group and additionally he was involved with ISEA and the National Junior College Athletic Association. He enjoyed playing tennis, hunting trips, going fishing, and serving on the Marshalltown city council. Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn; his children, Biff (Cindy) Renner, Jeff (Janice) Renner, and Brock (Lori) Renner; his grandchildren, Nick (Morgan) Renner, Emily (Twan) Phommachack, Megan (Adam) Rieck, Alex (Meghan) Renner, Julia Renner, Madison Renner, Logan Renner, and Nate Renner; his nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Dona (Cliff) Lothery and numerous other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Flowers and his twin sister Joan Lonergan
